The program plays a vital role in grassroots development by fostering a love for athletics at an early age and ensuring children have the skills and confidence to progress in the sport. By emphasizing the importance of physical literacy, Track Rascals helps create well-rounded athletes who can succeed in various sports. Junior Development

Ages 9 – 13

The Junior Development Program in Track and Field is designed to provide young athletes with a structured environment to build and refine their skills in various track and field events. This program focuses on developing technical abilities, improving overall fitness, and instilling key values such as discipline, commitment, and teamwork. Following Athletics Canada’s long-term athlete development model, it provides the necessary tools for athletes to progress at their own pace, with a focus on both personal growth and athletic performance.

One of the primary goals of the program is to enhance athletes’ technical skills in key track and field events, such as running, jumping, and throwing. Coaches work closely with athletes to break down each skill into manageable components, helping them improve through consistent practice and feedback.

Improving athletic performance is not only about physical ability but also about building mental toughness and self-discipline. The program teaches young athletes the importance of setting goals, being patient with progress, and maintaining a strong commitment to their training. These life lessons are valuable both on and off the track.

Experienced head coaches and assistant coaches will run the program, providing guidance, support, and tailored instruction to ensure that each athlete gets the most out of their experience. This program is an essential step in fostering a lifelong love for track and field while setting the stage for future athletic success.

Senior Development

Ages 14+

The 14+ Program is designed for high school-aged athletes who are ready to pursue track and field in a more committed, focused environment. At this stage, athletes begin to specialize in specific events, working on advanced training techniques that are tailored to their chosen disciplines. The program emphasizes consistent performance and event specialization, helping athletes refine their skills and reach their highest potential.

The primary goal of the Athletes 14+ Program is to foster continuous improvement and help athletes achieve personal bests. Through a structured, year-round training plan, athletes will focus on the technical, physical, and mental aspects required to perform at a higher level of competition. Event specialization becomes key, with athletes dedicating more time to mastering their specific events, whether it’s sprinting, distance running, jumping, or throwing.

The program is designed to develop athletes who are not only prepared for competition but also understand the importance of discipline, commitment, and mental toughness. It offers a supportive yet challenging environment where athletes can continue to grow, compete, and ultimately reach their full potential in track and field. By maintaining consistent participation and putting in focused effort, athletes are better equipped to meet their long-term goals and achieve consistent performances at higher levels of competition, including regional, provincial, and national meets.

Experienced head coaches and assistant coaches will provide personalized training, guidance, and mentorship throughout the program. With an emphasis on goal-setting and performance tracking, the athletes 14+ Program prepares athletes for both competitive success and lifelong involvement in the sport.
